Missing 18-year-old woman not seen for nearly a week found safe and well

An 18-year-old woman who went missing in West Yorkshire has been found safe and well, police say.

Tara Whelan, 18, was reported a missing person after last being seen in Halifax, West Yorkshire, on the morning of December 15.

Police said she has since been found and a man arrested in connection with the case has since been released.

West Yorkshire Police said in a statement on Monday that the 39-year-old who was arrested in connection with her disappearance has been released from custody.

The force had earlier described her disappearance as “out of character.”

West Yorkshire Police said in an updated statement: “Tara Whelan from Halifax who was the subject of a earlier missing persons appeal has been found safe and well.

“Police would like to thanks everyone who shared the appeal across social media.”

“A 39-year-old man who was arrested in connection with her disappearance has been released from custody.”
